This platform intends to create a unified ACB community in Windsor-Essex County, where African, Caribbean, and Black Canadian people can come together in solidarity to network and have access to information that will enhance their economic empowerment, health promotion, resilience building, and overcoming social and structural inequalities
The vision of this platform are as follows:
- To empower ACB people to bypass existing social and structural barriers against them.
- To create a unified ACB community in Windsor-Essex County that fosters interactions, share ideas, and social networks.
- To design, a one-stop online platform where ACB people can access information and resources to build their resilience, health promotion and economic empowerment.
We are members of African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) people in Windsor-Essex County, Canada who have come together to address the marginalization, and the lack of services that specifically targets the intersectional issues facing ACB people.
We intend to do this by creating a space to document the experiences of ACB people in Windsor-Essex County and provide support and solidarity to the ACB community by empowering member of ACB with employment and networking opportunities, knowledge resources and so on.
We are committed to building solidarity, engaging, and collaborating with ACB scholars, men, women, community leaders, community-based organizations, service organizations, and government to:
- Document experiences and knowledge about social, economic, health, structural factors, all forms of discrimination and racism/anti-Black racism
- Provide a space for dialogue, create support, and connection to nurture unity and belongingness, while working toward the elimination of racial inequality arising from structural barriers, and anti-Black racism.
- Build solidarity and alliance among the three ethno-racial groups consisting of the Africans, the Caribbean, and the Black Canadian communities, specifically between, scholars, community, and service organizations to empower ACB people and attain a more inclusive and equitable County.
- Develop a network among the ACB communities and people, to forge participatory and community-based action-oriented activities for the empowerment of ACB people and build their potentials.
- Empower ACB people economically by posting viable job opportunities and linking them to mentors in relevant field who will help to augment their employability.

Adenike
Adenike (She/her) works as a Workshop Facilitator at ICOVAC. She graduated with Master of Management in Logistics & Supply Chain at University of Windsor and has been working in the public sector since then. She is also a Content Creator that believes laughter heals a lot of hurts. Her core values are integrity & kindness. Outside of work, some of her hobbies include dancing, singing, and enjoying nature.

Chukwuamaka Laura Oyem
My name is Chukwuamaka Laura Oyem, but I usually go by Amaka. I am an undergrad student at the University of Windsor studying Applied Information Technology with minors in biological sciences and philosophy. I am one of the social media influencers for ICOVAC. I migrated to Canada in 2016 to further my education and, after graduation; I hope to use my certificate to work in the I.T. field. When I’m not studying or hanging out with friends, I like to read novels and manga, draw and paint, as well as cook and try new cuisine.

Oluwaseyi Sotannde
Oluwaseyi Sotannde, a Nigerian born Canadian, migrated to Canada in 2015. Upon arriving in Canada, he studied Information Technology in Sarnia and graduated in 2017. He currently works with the University of Windsor as an IT Support Staff under the Improving the uptake of Covid-19 Vaccine among the Black population living in Windsor-Essex County (ICOVAC) and the Strengthening the African, Caribbean and Black Canadian Men's Employability and Resilience in Windsor-Essex County (SAME) projects. Olu is an entrepreneur with different business skills ranging from IT support, Supply chain and Cleaning business. He loves listening to Christian music and contributing to His community by volunteering.

Dottie Utieyin
Dottie Utieyin is from southern Nigeria. In 2019, he received his first degree in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious Covenant University In Nigeria. In 2022, he migrated to Canada where he is studying Electromechanical Robotics Program, specialized program at St. Claire College, Windsor. He is driven to industrialize Nigeria and to improve on the economy’ s GDP by supporting and partaking in Local Content Production as well increasing the demand for labor by creating opportunities for the ordinary man. Utieyin believes that one way to create job opportunities is by implementing innovative new ways to create and sell local produce across borders. Creating jobs will help improve the life of the common person, and will reduce the high crime rate and corruption. Utieyin has had worked on different projects and NGOs including: Book Drive Campaign; Youth Decide 2019; and, Raise your Confidence Initiative (RAY-C where he managed the media team. He has interests in entrepreneurship and global economic growth. With high interests in the UN SDG goals 4 and 8, Utieyin is passionate about the power of education in economic growth and its potential to transform nations for healthy living. He is goal and result oriented, open-minded, and ready to explore and learn new things. With his flexibility, he can contribute to multiple tasks that he is delegated to work on. He loves to meet people.
