SAME: Strengthening ACB Men’s Employability and Resilience in Windsor-Essex County
The broad goal is to increase African, Caribbean, and Indigenous Black Canadian (ACB) men’s entry into the Canadian labor force.
The specific objectives are:
- Look at the ways that state structures and institutions can support the employment possibilities of ACB men.
- Look at the ways that ACB men themselves can work to develop their employability using the skills they have, the support from peers and from their families and community.
The study will engage in a series of workshops that are organized into themes:
Theme 1: Basic Job Preparation Skills- Microsoft Word literacy Skills
Theme 2: Job Search- where and how to look for job advertisements
Theme 3: Preparation for job interviews
Theme 4: Entrepreneurship
Theme 5: Internationally Trained Professionals (ITPs)
Theme 6: Creation of appropriate strategies to improve employability
